The honest caveats are two: a legally recognised<\/em> Jewish ceremony takes real paperwork most couples skip in favour of a symbolic ceremony after a civil marriage at home, and kosher catering is the one thing you must confirm with the resort before you fall in love with it<\/strong>. Everything else — the chuppah on the beach, the ketubah signing, the glass, a dance floor that can survive the hora — is well within reach at the right property. Here is how we plan it.<\/p>\n

Where the ceremony actually happens<\/h2>\n

A chuppah needs four poles and open sky more than it needs any particular venue — which makes Mexico’s beach and garden venues genuinely well suited. Certified kosher catering is a different matter entirely.<\/strong> Full certification means rabbinic supervision, separate or koshered kitchen equipment, sealed ingredient sourcing, and often an outside kosher caterer working on site — and whether that is possible, and what it costs, varies resort by resort and date by date. We will not tell you a resort can do it until the resort has confirmed it in writing for your dates. If certified kosher is a requirement for your family, say so in the first conversation — it becomes the first filter on the venue list, ahead of everything else.<\/p>\n

The same honesty applies to Shabbat logistics: if your celebration spans Friday night to Saturday, tell us — timing of the ceremony, music and photography all plan differently around it.<\/p>\n

Symbolic or legal? What most couples do<\/h2>\n

Mexico civil law recognises only a civil ceremony as legally binding — a religious ceremony alone, of any faith, does not create a legal marriage there. Bringing your own rabbi or cantor is common and welcome — we arrange their travel and room within the block. Finding local officiants comfortable with an interfaith or Reform ceremony is also very doable; Orthodox requirements need longer lead time, which is one more argument for the 12–18 month planning window<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The reception: hora first, everything else second<\/h2>\n

When we scout a venue for a Jewish wedding, the first question is not the view — it is the floor. The hora needs a solid, level dance floor with genuine room around it, chairs that can be lifted safely, and a band or DJ who knows how to run it. Sand is beautiful for a chuppah and terrible for a hora; the usual pattern is ceremony on the beach or in a garden, reception on a terrace or ballroom.
