Why capacity is the honest first filter<\/h2>\n

A South Asian wedding is four events, not one, and the guest list rarely shrinks. The question that eliminates most resorts is not whether the beach is beautiful. It is whether one room can seat everybody for the reception, because the alternative is splitting your family across two spaces and nobody remembers that fondly.<\/p>\n

The largest: where a 500-plus guest list actually fits<\/h2>\n

Atlantis Paradise Island publishes the single biggest room on this list at 5,000 guests, followed by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana at 3,900 and Grand Hyatt Baha Mar at 3,000. If your list runs past 500, these are the conversations worth having, and the rest of the table is a distraction.<\/p>\n

The most flexible: most separate venues<\/h2>\n

Capacity is not the only axis. A four-event weekend wants four different settings, and a resort with one enormous ballroom and nothing else makes every event feel the same. On venue count, Hard Rock Riviera Maya<\/strong> leads with 19 published wedding venues, then Atlantis Paradise Island with 18 and Hyatt Ziva Vallarta with 16. That spread is what lets the mehndi, the sangeet, the ceremony and the reception each have their own character.<\/p>\n

The question this table cannot answer<\/h2>\n

Capacity is published. The entertainment curfew usually is not, and it is the rule that decides whether your sangeet and reception run the way you are imagining them. Outdoor spaces are routinely capped earlier than indoor rooms, so a resort with a spectacular beach and a 10pm outdoor limit may be the wrong home for the two events that run late, however good the number in the table looks.<\/p>\n

Ask every shortlisted resort for the curfew in writing, per venue and per night, and for the cost of an extension. Ask at the same time for the mandap provision and open-flame policy for the havan, the baraat route and animal policy, and whether the planners assigned to you hold a named South Asian certification. Most resorts publish none of those.<\/p>\n
