London Wedding Planner: N&J’s Wedding at The Grove

Being a London wedding planner comes with many special perks, amongst them the spectacular array of venues I plan my couples’ weddings in and the ever-exciting landscape of town. One of the vital wonderful things for me nevertheless, is the sense of community inside the wedding world here – particularly the London Jewish community, by which I’m well-known and have planned many a celebration! Nicole and Joey’s wedding at The Grove in February was no exception, the family having come to me after we planned Joey’s brother’s wedding last summer in Italy. That is the story of how we blended London and Israel right into a showstopping celebration…in only 8 weeks.

Nicole and Joey’s original plan was to marry in October 2023 in Israel, where Nicole spent much of her childhood. Unfortunately, as a result of recent events they’d to cancel – but in December last yr they decided they didn’t wish to wait to marry, and contacted me to assist plan their wedding within the UK in February as a substitute. They recognised that a UK wedding would offer a special overall vibe to the one they originally planned, and it was vital that we still incorporate some elements of an Israeli wedding to uphold their original wishes.

Every element of the day was fastidiously considered and intentionally chosen, despite the short turnaround time – attention to detail never lacks, regardless of if we plan your wedding in 12 months or 12 weeks. The marriage was hosted on the Grove Hotel, because Nicole’s family have a robust reference to the venue. Each time her parents visited the UK during the last 20 years, they stayed here – so it was a spot that held great significance for the entire family.

In all my years as a London wedding planner, I actually have never worked with such a world team of suppliers in my home city – and what a pleasure it was! That they had already booked their photographer and videographer for his or her original wedding plans, so we flew in Eran Beeri and Nir Tenenbaum from Israel to capture the day. We also brought in DJ Chen Soco from Israel, who worked alongside the inimitable Muzika – Muzika covered a lot of the starting of the evening and we finished with a DJ set for the ultimate few hours, to honour N&J’s wishes to have an Israeli style wedding party. Other internationally sourced elements were the kippot (from Simcha’s Kippot in Israel) and Nicole’s Lihi Hod dress (just prior to the marriage she travelled to Israel for just a few weeks for her final fittings).

London Wedding Planner Meets Israel

The remainder of their wedding day was a combination of Israeli and British wedding traditions. Their ceremony was dark and intimate, lit by candlelight which danced off a mirrored aisle. Nicole’s vision was to have a transparent chuppah to provide guests an uninterrupted view of the ceremony, and the perspex structure was provided by The Chuppah Company and dressed with florals from Wildabout Flower.

Like many traditional UK weddings the dress code was black tie with a midnight finish, unlike the custom in Israel that will have seen them partying until the early hours! Their wedding food was provided by Eat Me Events, featuring an Israeli mezze starter.

The Details

Even with just 8 weeks to plan Nicole and Joey’s wedding, we focused on every last detail to make sure the day was exactly as they envisioned it – and just as wonderful as the marriage they’d originally dreamed of in Israel.

Their reception featured a visually appealing mixture of round and long tables, with chalk color table linen and probably the most exquisite charger plates. Right by the dancefloor we installed a round bar covered in a stone suedette finish, which matched the finish of the fascias of the stage for a coherent, put-together feel. We also had a bespoke dancefloor fitted, featuring the identical color palette as throughout and finished with their monogram. Because the night drew to a detailed and the couple said just a few final words prior to their last dance, Nicole announced that she was pregnant – probably the most touching end conceivable to a magical day.
