Mexico is such a magical place to tie the knot, and Norma and Fernando’s wedding day is here to prove it! With a chic white and gold color palette, this gorgeous couple planned a beachfront wedding in the gorgeous Playa Del Carmen. It was a surprising celebration stuffed with cultural tradition, love and laughter.
We are able to’t get enough of Norma in her wedding dress! She selected to wear Martina Liana Style 1305, and this bridal style fit her like a glove. From the 3D organza details, lace appliqués and fit-and-flare silhouette, it had all of the intricacies she was searching for in a bridal gown—not to say the flowing train and cathedral veil she had to finish her bridal look!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL!
We initially met through a mutual friend in 2014 while we were in college but didn’t stay in contact. We reconnected through a special mutual friend in 2016 while we were each living within the San Francisco Bay Area. We went on two dates in lower than 24 hours and realized that what we shared was far more than friendship. We quickly fell in love and have truly been inseparable ever since. Fernando surprised me and proposed during my birthday weekend in 2020 with a Cinderella-themed proposal in Lake Tahoe, California. He took me on a horse carriage ride that made me feel utterly special.

My bridal style was soft, romantic, classic and glamorous. I desired to look classy and stylish with a touch of sexy! My dream wedding dress was all the things I had hoped for and more. The fit-and-flare silhouette, floral design, plunging neckline and low back, alongside the 3D elements, lace, sparkly beadwork and sequin, Martina Liana Style 1305 is all the things I dreamed of!
I loved the long train, which I accompanied with a cathedral veil. I absolutely loved my dress and truly felt beautiful and like the proper bride. Fernando teared up and cried when he saw me for the primary time in my dress! We selected to not have a primary look and as a substitute did a primary touch. We desired to see one another for the primary time on the altar!
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING. WHAT WERE YOUR THEME AND COLORS? HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOUR LOVE STORY?
Mexico has a vital place in my heart since my parents and I were born there. Plus, Fernando and I really like Mexico! We each wanted a destination wedding where each of our families from Mexico and from america could have the opportunity of coming together and joining us on our wedding day.
We considered different locations in Mexico, but our love for the gorgeous beaches in Playa Del Carmen was hard to beat. We each knew we wanted a beachfront ceremony with a chic touch. We chosen a chic white and gold wedding theme.
Upon seeing pictures of Villa La Joya and visiting it in person, we completely fell in love with it, and knew it was meant for us. It’s such a beautiful venue with the perfect combination of an ocean view while having beautiful scenery, not to say the private exclusivity that also made this venue our first selection. We wanted an imitate and romantic setting to share and express our love and happiness with all our guests. Our family and friends were impressed by the situation and loved it, as well. Villa La Joya is completely unique and stunning
My most special memory is my entrance and the primary time I saw my husband-to-be waiting for me on the altar with tears in his eyes. One other very special, yet emotional, moment for us was our first touch. Holding one another’s hands while not seeing one another filled us with a lot emotion and excitement right before our ceremony.
We incorporated Mexican cultural traditions akin to “el lazo de boda” (wedding lasso) and “las arras matrimoniales” (wedding unity coins) during our ceremony. On the reception, we had just a few traditional dances like “La Vibora de la Mar” (sea snake dance), tossing the groom and the dollar dance.
Cheers to Norma + Fernando!
