TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL!
My husband Sameer planned the proper, most thoughtful proposal! We went to Chateau Elan Vineyards for a wine tasting. I must have already been tipped off that something was up when he willingly went to a wine tasting with me. He asked me if I’d marry him within the vineyard, and I believe I blacked out from shock and happiness!
Afterward, we were supposedly going to lunch but as a substitute went to a non-public balcony where each of our families were waiting to surprise me. We spent the remainder of the day and night celebrating with them. Family is so essential to each of us, so it was perfect!

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE. HOW DID YOU WANT TO LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS-SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.
I used to be undecided what I wanted for my wedding dress, however the minute I attempted on Martina Liana Luxe Style LE1130, I knew it was the one. The workers at Town and Country Bridal were so accommodating, skilled, helpful and sweet. They really made the experience wonderful and stress-free.
I attempted on just a few more dresses after this one, but in my heart, I knew that there was no way anything would compare. I especially loved that the over the shoulder piece might be altered in order that for my reception, I could wear the dress strapless to make it easier to bounce and rejoice all night!

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING. WHAT WERE YOUR THEME AND COLORS? HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR WEDDING PERSONAL TO YOUR LOVE STORY?
Our wedding was a mix of each of our cultures— my family being from Recent Orleans, and his from Pakistan. The marriage was in Recent Orleans, but we worked hard to include and honor his culture through the weekend celebration.
On Friday night, we had a standard Mehndi celebration with Pakistani food, dancing and numerous brilliant colours. It was gorgeous and a lot fun! We then had our traditional Catholic ceremony on Saturday followed by a Second Line, where guests paraded down the streets of the French Quarter waving handkerchiefs and are led by a brass band to the reception. It might sound extra, but we love Mardi Gras and desired to bring that spirit into our wedding!

WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THAT DAY?
My favorite memory from the day was probably the private dinner Sameer and I had up on the balcony of our reception venue right after the marriage. We could overlook all the venue and see people filling in for cocktail hour, but we were hidden away enough that we got to enjoy one another, some champagne and far needed dinner.
It was only about 20 minutes, but it surely was the proper time to be together and revel in the thrill of being newly married before going right down to the party and dancing the remainder of the night away with our family and friends.

Cheers to Sophie and Sameer!
