With a proposal that romantic, it comes as no surprise that their Alberta, Canada wedding was equally fairy-tale!
Carmen selected Essense of Australia Style D2771 to wear on her wedding day. She tried on many alternative dresses that she felt like fit her ideal bridal aesthetic, nevertheless it was Essense of Australia’s unique fit-and-flare gown with beaded tulle that stole her heart! She accomplished her bridal look beautifully with soft glam make-up, loose curls and a dainty floral hairpiece that turned heads as she walked down the aisle.

What was probably the most special memory out of your wedding day?
My favorite memory from our wedding day was all the enjoyment and laughter. If our wedding had happened 13 days earlier, we’d not have been in a position to have greater than 15 people attend due to COVID-19 restrictions, but on the primary of July, all the restrictions were lifted, and we had 200 people at our wedding who were all so blissful to be there. Joshua and I were over the moon because we were actually in a position to have our dream wedding with family and friends there to rejoice with us!
Tell us about your proposal!
Joshua has a passion for star photography, so naturally, he desired to propose under the celebrities. He watched the weather prediction and lightweight pollution map closely to seek out an evening when the celebrities could be most visible. After all, he kept this a secret, but on a flawless night, he drove us distant from town to this beautiful provincial park.
We listened to music, had a picnic and talked all night while we stargazed. Then he desired to take some pictures of us under the celebrities, so he asked me to shut my eyes in case there was “a glare,” and he got down on one knee and pulled out a hoop. It was so special, and he captured a shocking picture of us under the celebrities.
Describe your bridal style! Tell us about your dress-shopping experience.
I knew I wanted an all-white, fitted wedding dress with unique detailing throughout. There have been so many gorgeous dresses that fit my criteria that it was difficult to narrow it all the way down to only one. The bridal stylists working at The Bridal Boutique in Calgary, Alberta were so helpful and patient after I was trying on different dresses and styles. Over and yet again, I attempted on this dress with probably the most beautiful lace detailing and a shocking train — no other dress looked prefer it! I finally said “I do” to Essense of Australia Style D2771!
Tell us more about your wedding. How did you personalize your wedding together with your love story?
I wanted a marriage surrounded by nature, so we found this beautiful golf course wedding venue. My color inspiration was white with gold accents for all of the decor. All my flowers were white, and since I used to be born and raised in South Africa, I included some proteas, which is their national flower.
We had “his” and “her” favorite snacks and “Josh” and “Carmen” wine bottles (each actual wine brands) on each table. For communion, we mixed the wines to make a rosé that we each drank. We had so many details throughout the marriage that reflected Josh and I’s relationship.
