I used to be told I used to be going to a restaurant for dinner one night. We got to the restaurant early, and my now husband said, “Let’s go walk across the town.” We were walking around and ended up popping into an art gallery.
As we were walking through the gallery, I noticed a painting of me, Alex and our dog, Puffy. The painting says, “Ester, will you marry me?” Under the painting was an image of my mom and me once I was little, she passed away once I was 11.
Once I finally realized what was happening, Alex had this beautiful monologue written, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After I said “yes” and cried a bunch of joyful tears, I looked up, and all of our closest family and friends were there to surprise me. It was probably the most magical thing ever…. well, besides the marriage!
WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THE DAY?
Essentially the most special memory from the day was having photos throughout our family and having a memory table to recollect those that weren’t with us. My mom passed away once I was 11 years old.
It was a really hard journey planning this wedding without her. Having those pictures and candles lit in every single place within the venue in memory of her and our other family members who weren’t there was so special and meaningful to me and my husband.

I didn’t know what style I wanted — I just knew that as a lady my size, I desired to feel beautiful. I went to La Belle Mariee Bridal with only one friend for the primary time because I wasn’t sure what style I would love on my body, and I used to be nervous to have the opinions of others skewing my decision.
After I attempted on a dress in every style, I saw Martina Liana Style 1413 on the mannequin and loved that it wasn’t a typical ivory or white dress. I put the dress on and fell in love! I loved the lace, the blush material under the lace and the way it looked on me.
I loved that the sleeves were romantic and modest but were also removable, and I could take them off and have a fun and sexy strapless dress for the reception. The whole lot in regards to the dress was perfect.
I went to at least one other bridal store before I made my final decision, but I kept interested by Martina Liana Style 1413. I finally got my family to return see the dress, and once they saw it on me, they felt what I felt for the dress too!

Our wedding was a magical day celebrating mine and Alex’s love for one another with all our family and friends. It was a black-tie event, and the colour palette was all-white with hints of green and gold.
My bridesmaids wore emerald green, and the groomsmen had emerald green pocket squares. We had gold chocolates made as party favors placed on everyone’s dinner plates.
Our wedding was personalized to us with our band and DJ playing our favourite songs. We opted out of getting a garter and bouquet toss so we could spend more time dancing the night away with family and friends. Your entire wedding was a small example of how we love one another and love those closest to us.
We had a rabbi who honored our closeness to our family and had our nieces and nephews in addition to our grandparents sign our marriage license. We had candles lit throughout the entire venue and in every event room to point out the sunshine of my mom being present there. The day was perfect!
