All prices below were verified against the resorts’ own published package information in August 2026. Where a resort does not publish a price, this page says so rather than guessing.
Puerto Vallarta is the destination wedding market nobody writes cost guides about. Cancun and Cabo get all the coverage, and Vallarta — with a walkable old town, jungle meeting ocean, and a resort strip that runs from all-inclusive to Four Seasons — gets a paragraph. Here is the actual arithmetic, the room-block rules that decide most of your budget, and the one thing about getting legally married here that catches couples out.

The short answer
For 50 guests in Puerto Vallarta, budget roughly $4,500 to $19,500 all-in for the ceremony and reception, depending entirely on which package tier you take.
Hyatt Ziva Vallarta is the only resort in the Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit cluster that publishes its full price ladder, so it anchors this guide. At 50 guests its mid tier lands at $9,239 before tax — about $185 a head — and the entry tier at $3,449, about $69 a head. That is meaningfully cheaper than the equivalent wedding in Los Cabos, and it is the main reason Vallarta deserves more attention than it gets.
These are rough planning numbers, not quotes. Every figure here comes from a resort’s own published package information, verified in August 2026. Real pricing moves with your date, your season, the day of the week, your final guest count and how many rooms your group books — so treat these as a range to plan against, not a bill to expect.
WeddingPlan360 guarantees the lowest price — on guest rooms, on the wedding package, on the whole event. We book these resorts directly and constantly, which gives us group rates, contracted concessions and special discounts that are never published on a resort’s website or anywhere on this page. The one Vallarta resort that publishes its prices
Hyatt Ziva Vallarta lists five tiers, and unusually for this market, it publishes both the base price and the per-additional-guest rate — which is what makes real arithmetic possible:
| Package | Base price | Covers | Additional guest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Just for the Two of You | $649 | the couple | — |
| Intimate Elegance | $1,649 | 10 guests | $45 |
| Lavish & Opulent | $6,089 | 20 guests | $105 |
| Luxury | $13,553 | 38 guests | $105 |
| South Asian Wedding | Multi-event celebration, specialists certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute. Priced by quote. | ||
What is in them, briefly. Just for the Two of You covers a symbolic ceremony, bouquet and boutonniere, cake, sparkling wine toast, turndown service, late checkout, a room upgrade and an on-site coordinator. Intimate Elegance adds a private dinner reception, open bar, ceremony sound system, hair and makeup for the bride and a couples massage. Lavish & Opulent adds a private cocktail hour, three-course plated dinner, live ceremony music, two hours of photography, floral centrepieces and a suite for the wedding night. Luxury adds a gourmet buffet or plated options, premium open bar, DJ, custom cake design, a hair and makeup trial and private check-in.
What that means at 50 guests
| Package | Arithmetic | Total (pre-tax) | Per guest | Approx. all-in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intimate Elegance | $1,649 + 40 × $45 | $3,449 | $69 | ≈ $4,500 |
| Lavish & Opulent | $6,089 + 30 × $105 | $9,239 | $185 | ≈ $12,100 |
| Luxury | $13,553 + 12 × $105 | $14,813 | $296 | ≈ $19,400 |
Note what the entry tier does. Intimate Elegance is built for 10 guests, but its additional-guest rate is only $45 — the lowest of any tier here. Stretch it to 50 and you are paying $69 a head for a private dinner reception with an open bar. That is an unusually good deal, and it exists because the resort prices the marginal guest cheaply on the small package and expensively on the large one. Whether it is right for you depends on how much of the décor, photography and entertainment in the upper tiers you actually want — but it is worth asking about explicitly, because nobody will volunteer it.
Move your wedding off Saturday and save four figures
Vallarta’s published rates are the midweek rates. Hyatt Ziva Vallarta is one of the few resorts anywhere that lets you see the weekend premium directly:
| Package | Mon–Thu | Thu noon–Sun | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lavish & Opulent | $6,089 | $6,669 | +$580 |
| Luxury | $13,553 | $14,222 | +$669 |
Add the roughly 31% for tax and service and that $669 becomes closer to $875 of real money for choosing a Saturday. Across a whole wedding — package, welcome event, rehearsal dinner — shifting to a Tuesday or Wednesday is routinely the single largest saving available, and it changes nothing about the wedding itself. Your guests are flying to Mexico for several days regardless; the day of the week matters far less to them than it does to your invoice.
Tax and service: add about 31%
Every figure above is pre-tax. Mexican resorts typically add around 16% tax plus a 15% service charge. That is why the $9,239 mid-tier build is really about $12,100.
The practical rule: you cannot compare two quotes until you know whether each includes tax and service. Make it the first question. We cover the rest of the line items that sit outside the package price in what an all-inclusive wedding package doesn’t include.

The room-block rules that decide your real budget
This is the part of a Vallarta wedding that almost nobody publishes, and it matters more than the package tier.
Resorts here trade wedding value for room nights, and they attach conditions. From Velas Vallarta‘s own group wedding terms, which are typical of the market:
- The wedding rate requires a minimum of 40 suites booked for 3 nights. Below that threshold you are not getting the group rate at all.
- 80% of wedding attendees must stay at the resort. This is the rule that catches people. If a big share of your guest list plans to book an Airbnb in Old Town, you can fall out of compliance with your own contract.
- Only 20% of guests at an event may be external, and a non-staying guest is charged $185 per adult — tax and tips included, accommodation not.
- Hit the 40-room threshold and the concessions are real: a certified group and wedding coordinator, personalised group check-in with welcome drinks, suite upgrades for the couple and for the couple’s parents, and a bridal suite on the event day for getting ready.
Read those together and the strategic picture is clear: in Vallarta, your guest list and your room block are the same negotiation. A 50-guest wedding where everyone stays on property is a fundamentally different commercial proposition from a 50-guest wedding where half the group books elsewhere — even though the wedding looks identical. Decide early, and tell your guests early, because the 80% rule is very hard to fix six weeks out.
Puerto Vallarta or Punta Mita? They are different states, and that matters legally
Here is the genuinely local thing nobody writes down. Puerto Vallarta is in Jalisco. Drive 40 minutes north around Banderas Bay to Punta Mita, Nuevo Vallarta or Bucerías and you are in Nayarit. Same bay, same airport, same wedding — two different civil registries, with different paperwork, different translator requirements and different fees.
Couples routinely choose a Punta Mita resort while assuming they are doing Puerto Vallarta paperwork. If you want a legally binding civil ceremony rather than a symbolic one, confirm which state your venue sits in before you start the documents. Both Jalisco and Nayarit also require a DIF premarital talk that the Caribbean side of Mexico does not. Our guide to symbolic versus legal ceremonies in Mexico covers both jurisdictions in detail.
Where your guest count actually fits
Vallarta’s venue range is wider than most people expect — from a 20-guest terrace to a ballroom that holds 1,500 for cocktails. Published capacities across the cluster:
| Resort | Venue | Ceremony | Cocktail | Reception |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Ziva Vallarta | Rios Ballroom | 600 | 600 | 400 |
| Pureza Beach | 200 | 150 | 120 | |
| Blaze Beach | 200 | 200 | 100 | |
| Sky Penthouse Terrace | 100 | 90 | 70 | |
| Hard Rock Vallarta | Sanctuary Ballroom | — | 1,500 | 910 |
| Ciao Beach | Unlimited | 650 | 450 | |
| Sunset Terrace | 200 | 650 | 450 | |
| Velas Vallarta | Convention Center Grand Alejandra | 500 | 500 | 450 |
| Bahia Beach | 450 | 450 | 450 | |
| Jetty | 100 | 150 | — | |
| Dreams Vallarta Bay | Beach | 250 | 250 | 250 |
| Terraza La Vista | 100 | 100 | 100 | |
| Gazebo Dreams | 70 | — | — | |
| Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit | Ocean Garden | 400 | 360 | 360 |
| Grand Marissa Ballroom | 400 | 240 | 350 | |
| Gazebo Beach | 300 | 180 | 180 |
At 50 guests every one of these works, so choose on atmosphere. Where it gets interesting is at scale: Hard Rock Vallarta’s Sanctuary Ballroom and Velas Vallarta’s Grand Alejandra are among the largest indoor wedding spaces on this coast, which is why Vallarta quietly handles a lot of very big South Asian weddings that Cabo simply cannot fit indoors.
South Asian weddings in Banderas Bay
Vallarta is a stronger South Asian destination than its profile suggests, largely because of that indoor capacity.
Hyatt Ziva Vallarta runs a dedicated South Asian Wedding package with specialists certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute. Velas Vallarta builds multi-event South Asian celebrations around a puja, a baraat with three refreshment stations along the processional route, a Hindu ceremony and a haldi with an hors d’oeuvre buffet and two hours of bar service — the level of specificity that tells you they have actually run these. Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit names mehndi and sangeet in its own programme.
Neither Velas nor Grand Velas publishes a South Asian package price; both quote per celebration. For the properties that do publish real numbers, see our guide to South Asian wedding packages in Mexico and the Caribbean.

The luxury tier, and why it has no list price
Above the all-inclusives, Banderas Bay has a genuinely serious luxury bench: Four Seasons Punta Mita, The St. Regis Punta Mita, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Palma Sola in Punta Mita.
None of them publishes package pricing, and that is not evasiveness — they quote each wedding individually because at that level almost nothing is standardised. Anyone giving you a list price for a Four Seasons Punta Mita wedding is guessing. Ask us and we will get you the real number, usually within a couple of days.
Also on the strip and worth a look depending on your guest count: Hard Rock Puerto Vallarta and Dreams Vallarta Bay.
How Vallarta compares
| Destination & package | Total at 50 guests | Per guest |
|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Ziva Vallarta — Intimate Elegance | $3,449 | $69 |
| Grand Palladium Jamaica — Palladium Signature | ≈ $5,300 | $106 |
| Dreams Sapphire — Eternal Love | ≈ $7,379 | $148 |
| Hyatt Ziva Vallarta — Lavish & Opulent | $9,239 | $185 |
| Garza Blanca Los Cabos — Gemstone + Gold | $10,295 | $206 |
| Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos — Corazón | $12,870 | $257 |
All pre-tax. Vallarta’s entry tier is the cheapest real 50-guest wedding in this set by a wide margin, and its mid tier sits below both Cabo properties. For the full cross-country comparison see our destination wedding for 50 guests cost guide, and for Cabo specifically our Los Cabos cost guide.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a wedding in Puerto Vallarta cost for 50 guests?
At Hyatt Ziva Vallarta, the only resort in the cluster publishing a full price ladder, 50 guests works out at $3,449 pre-tax on the Intimate Elegance package, $9,239 on Lavish & Opulent and $14,813 on Luxury. Add about 31% for tax and service, so roughly $4,500 to $19,400 all-in. Guest flights and rooms are separate and paid by your guests.
Is Puerto Vallarta cheaper than Cancun or Los Cabos for a wedding?
For the packages we can compare on published prices, yes. Hyatt Ziva Vallarta’s mid tier is $9,239 at 50 guests against $10,295 at Garza Blanca Los Cabos and $12,870 at Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos, and its entry tier at $3,449 is the cheapest genuine 50-guest option we publish anywhere.
Do all our guests have to stay at the resort?
Often a large share of them do. Velas Vallarta’s group wedding terms require 80% of wedding attendees to stay on property and cap external guests at 20% per event, with non-staying adults charged $185 each. If a lot of your guest list wants to book elsewhere in Old Town, raise it with the resort before you sign, not after.
How many rooms do we need to get the wedding rate?
At Velas Vallarta the group wedding rate requires a minimum of 40 suites booked for 3 nights, and clearing that threshold also unlocks concessions including a certified wedding coordinator, group check-in, suite upgrades for the couple and their parents, and a bridal suite for the wedding day. Thresholds vary by resort, so ask for yours in writing.
Is a Saturday wedding more expensive?
Yes, and Vallarta is one of the few places you can see it published. Hyatt Ziva Vallarta’s Lavish & Opulent package is $6,089 Monday to Thursday and $6,669 from Thursday noon through Sunday; the Luxury package moves from $13,553 to $14,222. With tax and service on top, a Saturday costs roughly $875 more for the identical event.
Is Punta Mita the same as Puerto Vallarta for the legal paperwork?
No. Puerto Vallarta is in Jalisco and Punta Mita, Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerías are in Nayarit — two different states with two different civil registries, different documentation and different fees, despite being 40 minutes apart on the same bay. If you want a legal rather than symbolic ceremony, confirm which state your venue is in before starting the paperwork.
Can Vallarta handle a large South Asian wedding?
Yes, and better than most Mexican destinations for very large groups, because of its indoor capacity — Hard Rock Vallarta’s Sanctuary Ballroom holds 1,500 for cocktails and 910 for a reception, and Velas Vallarta’s Grand Alejandra holds 500. Hyatt Ziva Vallarta’s specialists are certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute, and Velas Vallarta builds celebrations around a puja, a baraat with refreshment stations along the route, a Hindu ceremony and a haldi.
Can WeddingPlan360 get a better price than booking direct?
Yes, and we guarantee it. We book these resorts continuously, which gives us access to group rates, contracted concessions and seasonal promotions that are not published publicly — on rooms as well as on the wedding package. Room-block thresholds like the 40-suite minimum are exactly where that leverage shows up. If you find a lower price elsewhere, bring it to us and we will match or beat it.
In Vallarta, the room block is the wedding budget. Package tier matters; hitting the room-night threshold matters more, and the 80% on-property rule catches couples who did not know to ask. That is the conversation worth having before you pick a resort, not after.
WeddingPlan360 plans luxury destination weddings across Mexico and the Caribbean, and we guarantee the lowest price on everything from guest rooms to the wedding package. Book your free consultation →
