Short answer: across the 19 Los Cabos-area resorts we book, the published maximum wedding guest count runs from 130 guests (Esperanza Auberge) to 1,500 guests (Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos). Sixteen of the nineteen publish a number; the other three price and size weddings by quote only. Most properties cluster between 350 and 700.

This page lays out the maximum guest count published on each of our own Los Cabos listings, side by side, the way a couple with a guest list already in hand actually needs to see it — before cost, before dates, before which beach looks best in photos. It also covers the one mistake that gets couples into trouble: reading a venue’s capacity as the resort’s capacity, or a ceremony number as a reception number. Planning a Cancun-area wedding instead? We’ve done the same comparison for Cancun wedding venues by guest count.

Every Los Cabos resort, by how many wedding guests it holds

Sorted largest first. Figures are each resort’s own published maximum for a wedding, pulled from its WeddingPlan360 listing. We exclude the RIU Hotels and Resorts brand page from this list — it is a corporate overview page, not a bookable Los Cabos property.

Resort Max wedding guests
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos 1,500
Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos 900
Paradisus Los Cabos 800
Nobu Hotel Los Cabos 700
Le Blanc Los Cabos 700
Grand Velas Los Cabos 600
Corazón Cabo 600
JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa 550
Solaz 400
Acre Resort 400
Viceroy Los Cabos 350
Garza Blanca Los Cabos 350
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel 250
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos 200
Mar del Cabo 150
Esperanza Auberge 130

Three Los Cabos properties we book publish no maximum at all: Hilton Los Cabos, the Westin Los Cabos and the Hilton Vacation Club Cabo Azul Los Cabos. For those, ask directly — do not assume a number from a sister property, because within the same hotel group the figure can move by hundreds of guests (compare Hard Rock at 1,500 with Nobu, next door in the same Diamante development, at 700).

A published maximum is the single most useful filter you have before you look at a single photo. It tells you which resorts are physically possible for your guest list and which are not, before you fall for a beach you cannot actually book. But it is also the number most likely to be misread, for the two reasons below.

The number that is not what you think it is

Every one of these figures is a resort-wide wedding maximum, not a room’s physical capacity, and the two are frequently different numbers at the same property. Get this wrong and you can book a ceremony space that cannot hold the guest list you already have.

Viceroy Los Cabos is the clearest example in the market. The resort’s own published wedding maximum is 350 guests. Its own Great Ballroom, in the same set of listed venues, is published at 734 for a ceremony. Both numbers come from Viceroy’s own materials and both are true — they just answer different questions. A resort-wide maximum reflects what the property will support for a wedding group on a given date: room availability, kitchen and staffing capacity, and whatever else is running that week. A single room’s capacity is just what fits inside it. Ask a resort both numbers, not one.

Grand Velas Los Cabos shows the second version of the same trap, and shows it on its own venue chart: the Grand Velas Ballroom seats 600 for a ceremony but only 500 for a seated reception. Terraza del Mar is 500 for a ceremony, 450 for a reception. A couple who books on the ceremony number and only later asks about dinner can lose 50 to 100 seats at the table. Ceremony seating is theatre-style rows; reception seating needs room for tables, a dance floor and a buffet or service line, so it always shrinks.

The rule that gets you through both traps: when a resort or a venue gives you one number, ask which of three it is — ceremony, cocktail or reception — and ask whether the resort-wide maximum and the specific venue’s capacity are the same figure or two different ones.

Venue by venue: the four resorts that publish the detail

Most Los Cabos listings stop at one headline number. Four publish a real venue-by-venue breakdown, which is useful if you are choosing between an intimate terrace and a full ballroom at the same property, or trying to work out whether a resort’s maximum is spread across one giant room or several smaller ones that could each host a different part of the weekend — a welcome dinner in one space, the ceremony in another, the reception in a third.

Grand Velas Los Cabos is the strongest dataset in the region — the only Los Cabos listing that separates ceremony, cocktail and reception capacity for every space:

Venue Ceremony Cocktail Reception
Grand Velas Ballroom 600 600 500
Terraza del Mar 500 500 450
Ambassador Ballroom 350 350 300
Azul Beach 300 300 250
Azul Garden 150 150 150
Miramar — 70 50
Baja Brewery Rooftop terrace at Corazón Cabo overlooking Cabo San Lucas bay
The Baja Brewery Rooftop at Corazón Cabo, published at 600 guests.

Corazón Cabo publishes three spaces by wedding capacity: the Baja Brewery Rooftop at 600, the Beach Club at 400, and the Aleta Terrace at 225.

Esperanza Auberge publishes its full set: the Beach at 150 cocktail / 150 reception, Cocina del Mar Terraces at 130 cocktail / 100 reception, the Upper and Middle Pool Terraces at 120 cocktail, and Aire at 50 reception — the smallest named space in this entire comparison.

Acre Resort publishes Acre Baja at 500, Magic in a Mango Orchard at 200, and Los Agaves at 200 for a reception.

If your shortlist resort is not one of these four, that is not a reason to rule it out — it means the venue-level detail is not public, and you ask for it directly rather than assuming the resort-wide maximum applies to any single room you are shown on a site visit.

If you have 50 guests or fewer

Los Cabos is not only a big-wedding destination. For a genuinely small guest list, two named venues publish an exact 50-guest reception cap: Aire at Esperanza Auberge and Miramar at Grand Velas Los Cabos, both intimate, both at full-service luxury properties rather than a stripped-down package. For a slightly larger small wedding, Esperanza’s resort-wide maximum is 130 and Mar del Cabo’s is 150 — both boutique properties built around that scale rather than treating it as an afterthought tucked into a corner of a 1,500-guest resort.

If you have 100 to 250 guests

This is the most common range we book, and it is where the most choice actually lives. The Cape, A Thompson Hotel (250 maximum) and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos (200 maximum) are sized for exactly this band. Garza Blanca Los Cabos and Viceroy Los Cabos (350 each) and Solaz and Acre Resort (400 each) all comfortably hold a 100–250 guest wedding without the group reading as small inside an oversized room — each still has headroom rather than running near its own ceiling.

If you have 300 guests or more

Aerial view of Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos along the beach at sunset
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, the region’s highest published wedding maximum at 1,500 guests.

Eight properties publish a maximum of 300 or higher: Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos (1,500), Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos (900), Paradisus Los Cabos (800), Nobu Hotel Los Cabos and Le Blanc Los Cabos (700 each), Grand Velas Los Cabos and Corazón Cabo (600 each), and JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa (550). Paradisus is worth a second look here: it is marketed as an adults-oriented, quieter-feeling resort, and its 800-guest figure is easy to miss for exactly that reason — it is not the property most people picture when they think “large wedding.”

This is also where multi-day South Asian weddings tend to land, since a sangeet or baraat can run guest counts well past a typical Western reception even when the ceremony itself is smaller. If that is your wedding, see our South Asian wedding packages guide for which Mexico and Caribbean properties publish dedicated multi-event support; Los Cabos is not the strongest region for that specifically, so check which of the larger properties above can actually support four or five separate events before committing to the venue on guest count alone.

A guest list this size is also where the venue question and the room question start to overlap. A 300-plus person wedding usually means a meaningful room block, and the resort’s room-night or room-count minimum for its group rate can end up constraining your date and your venue choice as much as the ballroom capacity does. See our guide to how many rooms you need to block before you assume a large venue means a simple booking.

Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo?

Los Cabos is not one town. Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo sit roughly 30 km apart, joined by the Tourist Corridor, and the single regional airport sits much closer to San José del Cabo than to Cabo San Lucas — a real difference in ground-transport time for every guest booking their own flight. The two towns also feel genuinely different: Cabo San Lucas is the marina, nightlife and party-boat side; San José del Cabo is older, quieter and more walkable, with its own historic downtown. Several of the resorts in this comparison sit directly on the corridor between them, close enough to either town that their own published addresses reference both.

Where your resort falls changes how far guests travel from the airport and from each other if you have a multi-hotel group, and it can shape the whole feel of the trip — a Cabo San Lucas property puts you walking distance from the marina scene, a San José del Cabo property puts you near the quieter old town. Confirm the actual drive time to the airport and to any off-site excursion before you lock the venue, rather than assuming “Los Cabos” means one compact area.

What to ask before you book the venue

Everything above comes down to four questions, and asking them in this order saves a rebooking later:

  • What is this resort’s wedding maximum, and is that different from any single venue’s capacity? At Viceroy Los Cabos those two numbers are 350 and 734. Both are real; they are not the same question.
  • Is the capacity you were quoted for ceremony, cocktail, or reception? They are rarely identical. Grand Velas’s own venues each publish all three, and the reception number is always the lowest of the three.
  • Does that capacity hold for your actual date? A published maximum is what the resort will support in general. What it will support on your specific Saturday depends on what else is booked that week.
  • Is the number in writing? A verbal estimate from a site visit is not the same as a confirmed capacity attached to your contract.

What it costs once you know where you fit

This page is about capacity, not price — most Los Cabos resorts quote weddings individually and do not publish a package price. Two do: our Los Cabos wedding cost guide covers Garza Blanca Los Cabos’s published ceremony-plus-reception pricing (from $2,145 pre-tax) and Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos’s full sales ladder, including its Corazón tier at $12,870 for 50 guests. Every other property above is priced by quote, and that quote should always include the venue and the guest-count ceiling in writing, not just a verbal “that should be fine.”

Frequently asked questions

Which Los Cabos resort holds the most wedding guests?

Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, at a published maximum of 1,500 guests — more than double the next-largest property on this page.

Can I have a 300-guest wedding in Los Cabos?

Yes. Eight properties we book publish a maximum of 300 guests or higher: Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos, Paradisus Los Cabos, Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, Le Blanc Los Cabos, Grand Velas Los Cabos, Corazón Cabo and JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa.

What is the largest single wedding venue in Los Cabos?

Among the properties that publish venue-level data, Viceroy Los Cabos’s Great Ballroom is the largest single room at 734 for a ceremony. The Grand Velas Ballroom is close behind at 600 for a ceremony, 500 for a reception. Note the gap between those two numbers at Grand Velas — it is the same trap covered above.

Why does a resort list two different guest capacities?

Two different reasons, and it is worth knowing which applies. First, a resort-wide wedding maximum and a single venue’s capacity are different questions — Viceroy Los Cabos publishes 350 for the resort and 734 for its Great Ballroom. Second, ceremony and reception layouts take different amounts of room per guest, so the same space seats more people in rows for a ceremony than around tables for dinner, as at Grand Velas’s Ballroom (600 vs. 500) and Terraza del Mar (500 vs. 450).

Where can I have a small wedding in Los Cabos?

For a very small guest list, Aire at Esperanza Auberge and Miramar at Grand Velas Los Cabos both publish a 50-guest reception cap. For a small wedding with a bit more room, Esperanza Auberge’s own resort-wide maximum is 130 and Mar del Cabo’s is 150.

Is Cabo San Lucas the same as Los Cabos?

No. “Los Cabos” covers both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, two towns roughly 30 km apart connected by the Tourist Corridor, plus the resorts built along that corridor itself. Several properties in this comparison sit close enough to both that their own addresses reference each town.

How much does a Los Cabos wedding cost?

It depends almost entirely on which resort, since most price by quote. Our Los Cabos wedding cost guide has the two properties here that do publish figures: Garza Blanca Los Cabos and Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos. Every other resort on this page needs a direct quote.

How far in advance should I book a Los Cabos wedding?

The venue, not the paperwork, is usually the constraint. A resort with a lower published maximum, or a single room everyone wants for the same few weekends a year, books out further ahead than its own guest-count ceiling would suggest. See our general guide to how far in advance to book a destination wedding and apply it earlier if your shortlist includes any of the smaller properties above.

Get the capacity in writing

A verbal “we can fit that” is not a confirmed booking. Capacity answers change by date, by layout (rows vs. round tables vs. a dance floor), and by what else the resort has booked that week. Before you commit a deposit to any Los Cabos venue, get the specific room’s ceremony and reception numbers confirmed in writing for your actual date. We do this for every couple we work with, at no cost to you — book a call and we’ll get it in writing before you decide anything, or browse every resort we book to widen your shortlist first.

A note on the prices shown here

Every rate on this page is published by the resort and is included to give you a rough idea of pricing only. Resort pricing changes without notice and varies by date, season, day of the week, guest count, room availability and exchange rate. Figures may also be quoted before tax and service charge.

Nothing on this page is a quote, an offer or a guarantee of availability. For a current, all-in figure for your date and guest count, book a free planning consultation and we will confirm the real numbers with the resort.
