A wedding in Punta Cana starts at about $769 for just the two of you and runs to roughly $20,899 for a hundred-guest, multi-day South Asian celebration. The number most couples actually land on sits between those: $2,099 for 50 guests on a semi-private package, or $6,399 for 50 guests with a private cocktail hour and a three-hour reception. Those are real published figures from resorts we work with every week, before tax and service charge, and this guide shows exactly where each one comes from.

It also covers the thing that catches more Punta Cana couples than price ever does: there are only three judges serving the entire area, and that single fact decides your wedding date, your ceremony time, and sometimes whether you are legally married on the day at all.

These are rough prices, not quotes. Every figure here is a published starting price. Resorts price weddings by season, by year and by day of the week, and every figure is quoted before tax and service charge, which vary by country. Your date changes the number.

WeddingPlan360 guarantees the lowest price on everything from guest rooms to the wedding package — if you find it cheaper, we will match or beat it. We also hold group rates, contracted concessions and special discounts that are never published publicly, which is why the price you pay is usually not the price you see here. Book a free consultation and we will price your actual dates.

What a wedding in Punta Cana actually costs

Punta Cana is the most affordable serious destination-wedding market in the Caribbean, and the gap between it and Mexico is real. Here is the honest shape of it at the resorts in our directory:

What you are planning Realistic package cost, pre-tax
Just the two of you $769–$950
10 guests, semi-private dinner $1,099, or complimentary with enough rooms
30 guests, private reception $4,599
50 guests, semi-private dinner $2,099
50 guests, private reception $6,399
100 guests, private reception $10,899
50 guests, multi-day South Asian $14,739
100 guests, multi-day South Asian $20,899

Every one of those numbers is a package price. None of them includes your guests’ rooms and flights, which is where the real money in any destination wedding sits — and, as you will see below, the rooms are also what makes the package cheap in the first place.

Which Punta Cana resorts publish their prices?

Very few, and it is worth saying so plainly. Of the ten Punta Cana, Bávaro and Cap Cana resorts we list, only a handful print a dollar figure anywhere. The rest quote each wedding individually. That is not evasiveness — it is how the market works here — but it does mean most “average cost of a Punta Cana wedding” articles are built on estimates rather than published rates.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana — the fullest current ladder

The clearest published pricing in the destination, current for 2025 and 2026 dates:

Package Price Guests included Each extra adult (13+) Each extra child (4–12)
Just the Two of Us $769 2 — —
Luxury Complimentary, or $1,099 10 $25 $12.50
Refined $4,599 30 $90 $45
Luxury Honeymoon Complimentary, or $329 2 — —

Run the arithmetic for 50 guests and the Luxury package comes to $1,099 + 40 × $25 = $2,099, while Refined comes to $4,599 + 20 × $90 = $6,399. At 100 guests, Refined is $10,899.

One caveat that matters more than the price. The Luxury package’s reception is a semi-private dinner in one of the restaurants, and it seats a maximum of 60 guests. Above 60 you must move to a private reception, which brings a location fee, a menu fee and an open bar charge with it. So the $2,099 figure is genuinely true at 50 guests and quietly false at 70. If a planner quotes you a number in that range for a large group, ask which reception it assumes.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana holds up to 100 guests. Its sister property Royalton Punta Cana runs the same package family, and Royalton Bávaro publishes six packages including a Sky Terrace ceremony for up to 120.

Excellence Punta Cana — $950, and a hard ceiling

Excellence Punta Cana publishes a $950 per couple ceremony price on its Lovebirds package: symbolic ceremony at the stone gazebo, standard décor, sound system, bouquet and boutonnière, five digital photos, a one-tier cake and a romantic dinner for two. Its Everlasting Memories package — hair and makeup, a cocktail hour, a four-hour private dinner with open bar, a DJ and a music trio — is priced on request.

Here is the part nobody tells you: Excellence Punta Cana caps at 75 guests, and its Tropical Gazebo seats 30. It is an adults-only property built for elopements and small weddings, and it is beautiful at that size. If you are planning 120 people, it is the wrong resort, and finding that out on a site inspection is an expensive way to learn it.

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana — packages by guest band

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana structures its four packages by size rather than by name: Just for the Two of You, Intimate Elegance for up to 10 guests, Lavish & Opulent for up to 20, and the Luxury Wedding Package for up to 40. Base prices are quoted per wedding, but two published figures let you model the edges: additional guests run $130 on Lavish & Opulent and $135 per additional staying adult on the Luxury package, and a legal ceremony carries an $800 fee on top of the package.

Guests who are not staying at the resort buy a $165 Wedding Pass. Multiply that by however many friends were planning to stay somewhere cheaper down the beach and it stops being a footnote.

Next door, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana offers a Big Day Preview site visit for $600, credited back against your wedding — the sort of thing worth taking if you are deciding between two properties.

Is the free wedding package really free?

Royalton Punta Cana. The complimentary wedding package is a volume discount on rooms like these — not a giveaway. Image courtesy of Royalton Punta Cana.

Yes, and it is not a trick — but it is a volume discount, and the currency is room nights, not rooms.

This is the single most misunderstood thing in destination weddings. Almost every article you will read says “you need ten rooms.” Resorts do not count rooms. They count room nights — one room, one night. Ten rooms for three nights and five rooms for six nights are the same 30 room nights to the resort, and completely different asks of your guests.

Three of our Punta Cana properties publish their qualifying threshold outright, which is unusual and useful:

Resort What it takes In room nights What you get
Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana 7 nights in the required room category or higher, or 5 rooms for at least 3 nights 15 Wedding in Paradise complimentary
Grand Palladium Punta Cana 10 rooms for 3 nights, accommodating 25 adults 30 Crazy in Love complimentary
Royalton Splash Punta Cana 35 room nights, or 14 in Diamond Club categories — and 75% of the group staying on property 35 Luxury package free instead of $1,099

Now convert your own guest list. Fifty guests at two per room is 25 rooms; over three nights that is 75 room nights. Which means a normal 50-guest wedding clears every threshold in that table with room to spare.

So at 50 guests the question is not “do we qualify for the free package?” — you almost certainly do. The question is “which concessions did we get, and are they in writing?” That is a very different conversation, and it is the one worth having before you sign anything.

One rule inside that table deserves its own sentence. Royalton requires that 75% of the wedding group stay at the host hotel, and states it without wiggle room. It reads like an accommodation policy. It is actually a guest-list rule: if thirty of your hundred guests book a rental down the road, you are not over budget, you are out of contract. That surfaces late, when the guest list firms up, and it is much harder to fix then.

Getting legally married in Punta Cana: there are only three judges

This is the section we would want you to read even if you skip everything else, and it is stated plainly in Punta Cana resorts’ own wedding policy documents.

There are three judges serving the whole of Punta Cana, for every resort in the destination. The consequences are practical and they are not negotiable:

  • Every wedding is booked as a symbolic ceremony first. If the judge is unavailable on your date, the legal paperwork is signed at another point during your stay. You still exchange vows and rings on the day you planned; the legal act simply happens separately.
  • The judge sets the ceremony time, not you. For a symbolic ceremony you choose — the latest start is typically 5:00pm, and 4:00pm is the sensible choice for light. For a legal ceremony, the time comes back from the judge’s schedule.
  • Sundays are symbolic only.
  • You must arrive three days before the ceremony, symbolic or legal.
  • Your legal documents need to be ready three months out so they can be reviewed by the judge before you travel.
  • Judges and Catholic priests in Punta Cana are engaged by the resorts but do not work for them, and they move between properties, which is why times occasionally shift.

None of this is a reason to avoid Punta Cana. It is a reason to stop picturing a legal Saturday-morning ceremony at a fixed hour and start planning around what the destination can actually deliver. In practice, most of our Punta Cana couples do the symbolic ceremony on the day, exactly as they imagined it, and handle the legal marriage either at home or quietly during the week.

If you want the Mexico equivalent — where the rules differ by state and the paperwork is genuinely different — we covered it in detail in symbolic or legal: getting married in Mexico.

South Asian weddings: the Kohinoor packages

Punta Cana is a stronger South Asian wedding destination than its reputation suggests, and there are two published multi-event packages here — rare anywhere.

Package Price (2025/26) Guests Room-night minimum Event hours Each extra guest
Noor $14,739 up to 50 100 11 $130
Heera $20,899 up to 100 200 14 $130

Both include a two-hour welcome cocktail reception with open bar, a morning Vaatna, Haldi or Pithi on the beach, a Mehndi and Sangeet with a henna artist and full buffet dinner (three hours at Noor, five at Heera), the ceremony with a four-post draped structure, jaimala and a sound system for the priest, and a private buffet reception with open bar. Children aged 4–12 are half price. In the Dominican Republic these are available at Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Bávaro.

Look at what the per-head cost does. Noor works out at $295 per guest at 50 people. Heera works out at $209 per guest at 100. The bigger celebration is cheaper per person — which is the opposite of what almost every couple assumes, and it holds across nearly every resort we work with. Guests fill rooms; rooms are what the resort actually wants; and the wedding gets cheaper as the block gets bigger.

Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana also runs a Dulha Dulhan package, and we compared the region’s South Asian options in full in our South Asian wedding packages guide for Mexico and the Caribbean.

How many guests can each resort actually hold?

Larimar Lawn at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, which holds up to 600 for a wedding. Image courtesy of Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana.

This is where Punta Cana quietly beats Mexico. Not on price — on room to put people.

Resort Largest wedding space Capacity
Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana Santo Domingo Ballroom 2,070
Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana Larimar Lawn 2,000
Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana Ballroom 700
Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana Isle of Wight Plaza 600
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana Beach / Larimar Lawn 600
Grand Palladium Punta Cana Convention Center 300
Barceló Bávaro Palace — 200
Royalton Bávaro Beach 150
Royalton Punta Cana — 100
Excellence Punta Cana — 75

The Santo Domingo Ballroom at 2,070 is the largest indoor wedding space anywhere in our directory, in any country. That matters more than it sounds: a 300-person sangeet needs an indoor room it genuinely fits into, both as a venue and as a rain plan, and very few resorts in Los Cabos or the Riviera Maya can offer one. Dreams Macao’s 700-seat ballroom and its 500-guest Macao Plaza are in the same conversation.

At the other end, note how quickly the ceiling drops. Four of these ten properties top out at 200 guests or fewer. Match the resort to your list before you fall in love with the photographs.

What is not in these prices

Everything above is the wedding package. The things that sit outside it, in rough order of size:

  • Rooms and flights for your guests, which is the largest line in any destination wedding budget and the one you influence most by choosing dates well.
  • Tax and service charge. Published Caribbean package prices are quoted before both, and the rates vary by country — we will not print a percentage we cannot source for you. Ask for the all-in figure in writing, always.
  • The legal ceremony, where it is a separate line — $800 at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, for example.
  • Day passes for guests who are not staying at the resort, which are capped in number as well as charged for.
  • Outside vendors. Most Punta Cana resorts allow your own photographer or DJ for a fee per service, per day, and many do not permit outside florists or décor vendors at all.

We wrote a full guide to this — what an all-inclusive wedding package doesn’t include — and it is worth twenty minutes before you sign anything.

Punta Cana or Mexico?

An honest comparison, having priced both this year.

Punta Cana wins on package price. A 50-guest wedding with a private reception at $6,399 is genuinely hard to match in Mexico; our Los Cabos guide puts the equivalent at $10,295–$18,155 pre-tax, and the Puerto Vallarta numbers land between the two. It also wins decisively on large indoor capacity.

Mexico wins on published transparency and on legal simplicity. Far more Mexican resorts publish full price ladders, so you can compare before you enquire — see our Dreams Sapphire and Moon Palace Cancun guides — and a legal ceremony there means a judge who comes to your resort at a time you choose, rather than three judges shared across a whole destination.

Flights usually decide it. From most of the US East Coast, Punta Cana and Cancun are within an hour of each other in the air and often within a hundred dollars in fare. From the West Coast, Mexico wins on both, and it is not close. Price the flights for your actual guest list before you price the wedding — for fifty people, a $150 difference per ticket is $7,500, which dwarfs the gap between any two packages on this page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding in Punta Cana cost for 50 guests?

About $2,099 on Royalton Splash Punta Cana’s Luxury package with a semi-private dinner, or $6,399 on its Refined package with a private cocktail hour and a three-hour private reception. Both figures are before tax and service charge, and both are published starting prices for 2025 and 2026 dates.

Is the free wedding package in Punta Cana really free?

Yes, against a room-night minimum. Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana includes its Wedding in Paradise package with 7 nights or 5 rooms for 3 nights. Grand Palladium Punta Cana includes Crazy in Love with 10 rooms for 3 nights. Royalton Splash Punta Cana makes its $1,099 Luxury package complimentary at 35 room nights, provided 75% of your group stays on property.

Can we get legally married in Punta Cana?

Yes, but plan around the logistics. Only three judges serve the entire destination, so weddings are booked as symbolic ceremonies first, legal ceremonies are not performed on Sundays, your documents need to be ready three months ahead, you must arrive three days before the ceremony, and the judge — not you — sets the time.

Can guests who aren’t staying at the resort attend the wedding?

Usually yes, on a day pass, and they count toward the head count for your private events. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana charges a $165 Wedding Pass. Most resorts also require that a majority of the wedding group — 75% at Royalton — stays at the host hotel, so this is a cap as well as a cost.

How many guests can a Punta Cana resort hold?

Up to 2,070 in the Santo Domingo Ballroom at Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana, which is the largest indoor wedding space in our entire directory. At the other end, Excellence Punta Cana caps at 75 guests and is built for small weddings.

Is Punta Cana cheaper than Mexico for a wedding?

On package price, generally yes — often by several thousand dollars at 50 guests. Mexico publishes more pricing openly and has simpler legal-ceremony logistics. For most couples the deciding factor is flight cost for their guest list, not the package.

What does a South Asian wedding cost in Punta Cana?

$14,739 for up to 50 guests over 11 event hours, or $20,899 for up to 100 guests over 14 event hours, on the Kohinoor packages at Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Bávaro. Both carry room-night minimums — 100 and 200 respectively — and additional guests are $130, with children 4–12 at half price.

Can WeddingPlan360 get us a better price?

Yes, and that is the honest reason to talk to us rather than book direct. We guarantee the lowest price on everything from guest rooms to the wedding package — find it cheaper and we will match or beat it — and we hold group rates, contracted concessions and special discounts that resorts never publish. The published prices on this page are the starting point, not the number you pay.

Plan it with someone who has done it before

Punta Cana rewards couples who understand how it works: pick the resort that fits your guest list rather than the one with the best photographs, build the room block deliberately because it is what makes the wedding cheap, and plan the legal ceremony around three very busy judges instead of around a Pinterest board.

We do that for a living, at every resort on this page. Book a free consultation and we will price your real dates, your real guest list and your real room block — and tell you honestly if a different destination suits you better.

A note on the prices shown here

Every rate on this page is published by the resort and is included to give you a rough idea of pricing only. Resort pricing changes without notice and varies by date, season, day of the week, guest count, room availability and exchange rate. Figures may also be quoted before tax and service charge.

Nothing on this page is a quote, an offer or a guarantee of availability. For a current, all-in figure for your date and guest count, book a free planning consultation and we will confirm the real numbers with the resort.
