Not every South Asian destination wedding is 300 guests and four days — and the resorts built for the mega-tier are often the wrong answer for the celebration you are actually planning. Generations Riviera Maya is the property we shortlist when a couple wants the traditions honoured properly at a more intimate scale: an all-suites, family-friendly resort with a dedicated South Asian wedding package, capacity to around 400 guests, and one of the few genuinely itemised mandap-ceremony inclusions published anywhere in the Riviera Maya.

What the South Asian package actually includes

The resort publishes the ceremony inclusions item by item — rare, and worth quoting as written:

  • Traditional South Asian ceremony location
  • Mandap with floral décor
  • White garden chairs with colored cushions — a small line that tells you the package was designed by someone who has actually seen the photographs a South Asian ceremony produces
  • Bilingual non-denominational minister, with your own priest welcome for the religious ceremony itself
  • Floral bouquet and boutonnière, sound system for the ceremony
  • Sparkling wine toast for the cocktail hour, and a semi-private dinner reception

Note what that last line means: the base package is built around a semi-private reception, which suits intimate celebrations beautifully and keeps the package price down — a full private reception, dance floor and multi-day events are upgrades we price against the resort’s quote. If you are weighing that trade-off, our cost guide explains exactly where semi-private stops making sense.

The setting: all suites, and the palapa by the sea

Generations is an all-suites resort that shares its grounds with El Dorado Royale — families with children stay comfortably on the Generations side while the adults-only crowd has its own territory next door. The resort’s wedding gallery leads with its beachfront palapa venue — the setting that, dressed with a mandap, produces the ceremony most couples come to the Riviera Maya imagining.

What it costs

The South Asian package price is quoted against your date and guest count; the itemised inclusions above are what the base ceremony covers. For the arithmetic of scaling from a ceremony package to a multi-event celebration, start with our true-cost guide — and remember Mexico’s ~31% combined tax and service when comparing any two quotes. Our planning is free to couples, with contracted group rates on the room block.

Frequently asked questions

Does Generations Riviera Maya have a real South Asian wedding package?

Yes — a dedicated package with an itemised ceremony: traditional South Asian ceremony location, mandap with floral décor, garden chairs with colored cushions, bilingual minister, sound system, toast and a semi-private dinner reception.

Is it better for smaller South Asian weddings?

That is where it shines. Capacity runs to around 400, but the all-suites setting and the semi-private-reception base package make it strongest for intimate and mid-size celebrations. For 500-plus, we point couples at AVA or Cap Cana.

Can our own priest perform the ceremony?

Yes. The package includes a bilingual non-denominational minister; couples bringing their own pandit or officiant for the religious ceremony do so routinely, and we arrange their stay within the block.

Can children come?

Generations is family-friendly by design — all-suites, built for multigenerational groups. It is one of the properties we recommend specifically when the guest list is full of young families.
