The two-resort advantage nobody explains properly

Cap Cana is really two adjacent properties sharing one campus: Hyatt Ziva (family-friendly) and Hyatt Zilara (adults-only). For a South Asian wedding this is a genuinely useful structure - grandparents and families with children stay on the Ziva side, your friends take Zilara, and everyone is at the same wedding without anyone compromising. Very few venues in the Caribbean let you split a 300-person family that cleanly.

What it costs

A bespoke multi-day South Asian programme - Mehndi, Sangeet, baraat and ceremony as separate events - is quoted against your dates, guest count and event list. But the resort does publish a full wedding package ladder, and that ladder is the floor every South Asian quote is built on top of. The timing surcharge is real and most couples miss it. Those prices hold Monday to Wednesday all day, and Thursday to Sunday before 4pm. A Thursday-to-Sunday ceremony after 4pm - which is when most South Asian receptions actually start - costs $7,669 on Lavish & Opulent and $22,749 on Luxury. Budget the later slot, then treat the earlier one as a saving if your muhurat allows it.

Two of the lower tiers can also come free rather than discounted: Just the Two of You is complimentary on a 7-night stay in a Club Ocean View Junior Suite, and Intimate Elegance is complimentary at 25+ room nights combined across the group, both Monday to Wednesday and booked within 3 months of the date. For a South Asian wedding bringing a real room block, that second one is often already earned.

The three fees that decide a South Asian budget here

• Outside vendor fee - $1,500. This is the one that matters most. If you bring your own pandit, decorator, dhol player or DJ rather than using the resort’s, this fee applies. Most South Asian couples bring at least one, so treat $1,500 as a line item, not a maybe.
• Wedding pass - $165 per person. For guests attending the wedding who are not staying at the resort. Relevant for any celebration where part of the family stays off-property.
• Legal ceremony fee - $800. Only if you want the marriage legally performed in the Dominican Republic. A symbolic ceremony on-site with the legal paperwork done at home avoids it entirely, which is what most of our couples choose.

What we would check for your wedding specifically

• The baraat route - the resort supports horse arrival; the route, timing and music permissions still get agreed per event, and we put them in writing.
• Sacred fire rules for the pheras - open flame is venue-dependent everywhere; we confirm which spaces allow it before you fall in love with one.
• Outdoor music curfew - decides whether the sangeet runs to midnight outdoors or moves indoors; we get the number, not “usually fine”.
• Menu tasting logistics - vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian catering is in the programme; your family’s regional dishes are a per-event conversation we run with the culinary team.
