The rule that decides your sangeet: entertainment curfew

This is the single most important line on the whole page, and it is the one nobody quotes. At Hard Rock Riviera Maya, outdoor event spaces may only allow entertainment until 10:00pm. One venue is different: Starlight Terrace allows entertainment until midnight.

Think about what that means for a multi-day South Asian celebration. A sangeet that starts after dinner and is cut at 10:00pm is not a sangeet. A reception with a dhol and a full dance floor ending at 10:00pm ends before it has properly started. If the late nights matter to you, and for most of our couples they are the entire point, the venue you choose for those two events is not a decorating decision. It is the decision.

Ask for the curfew per venue and per night, in writing, and ask what an extension costs. Resorts will often price one. That question, asked before you sign, is worth more than any amount of decor budgeting.

How to build a four-event weekend here

Read the table as a schedule rather than a menu. At roughly 150 guests, a workable shape is a mehndi on one of the mid-size terraces, the sangeet at Starlight Terrace because of the midnight allowance, the ceremony outdoors in the morning where the 10:00pm rule is irrelevant, and the reception indoors where a curfew does not cut the night short. At 300 guests and above, Woodstock Terrace and the Convention Center become the only rooms that hold the full list, and the Convention Center is the one space here that will take a 600 or 1,000 person reception without splitting your family across two rooms.

Morning events are the quiet advantage of an outdoor curfew. A haldi or pithi at 10am is completely unaffected by a 10:00pm rule, so the restriction only ever bites on the two events that run late.

What is not in any wedding package

A resort package covers the setup, the officiant structure, the dinner and the bar. It does not cover the photographer, the videographer, the DJ, the dhol player, the dance floor or the uplighting. Bringing your own is normal and it is not free: resorts charge an outside vendor fee for the access, and the vendor still quotes you separately on top of it. 1. The entertainment curfew for each venue you are being offered, per night, and the cost of an extension.

4. Whether the planners assigned to you have South Asian wedding experience, and whether that is a named certification.
