Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun is a smaller property than most of the resorts South Asian couples end up shortlisting, and that turns out to be the interesting thing about it. It publishes per-setup capacities for every one of its four wedding spaces, which almost no resort does, and those numbers change which events belong where.
Four venues, and the numbers for each setup
Most resorts publish a single “max capacity” per venue, which is close to useless when you are planning four events. A room that seats 240 for dinner does not hold 240 for a ceremony, and a terrace that takes 350 standing takes far fewer once you put in tables. Garza Blanca publishes all three figures.

Read the gap between the columns rather than the biggest number in the table. Sky Ballroom and Tierra Luna both hold 350 for a cocktail hour and drop to 240 seated. That 110-guest difference is the single most common reason a couple discovers late that their reception does not fit the room they were shown at a site visit, where it was almost certainly set up for cocktails.
Matching the venues to the events
At roughly 200 guests this property works cleanly. The Elite Terrace at 120 takes a mehndi, which is usually the smallest and most relaxed of the events. Tierra Luna or the Sky Ballroom takes the sangeet, because both hold 350 standing and a sangeet needs floor space for performances rather than a seat for everyone. Coco’s Beach at 300 for a ceremony is where the mandap goes. The reception comes back indoors to the Sky Ballroom at 240 seated.
Above 240 seated, this is not the right property for a single-room reception, and it is better to know that now than three months in. The honest ceiling here is a 240-guest seated dinner. If your list runs past that, the larger-capacity resorts are a different conversation and we would rather point you at one than squeeze you into this one.
How late the music can play
Garza Blanca does not publish an entertainment curfew, and we are not going to invent one. That makes it the first question to ask, because it is what decides whether your sangeet and reception run the way you are picturing them. Two of the four spaces here are outdoor, and outdoor curfews on this coast are routinely earlier than indoor ones, so the answer may well decide that the sangeet belongs in the Sky Ballroom rather than on Tierra Luna.
Ask for it in writing, per venue and per night, and ask what an extension costs.
What the resort does not publish
Garza Blanca publishes its venues and their per-setup capacities. It does not publish a mandap specification, an open-flame policy for the havan, a baraat route or animal policy, or a named South Asian certification for its planners. Those are questions with real answers, and the answers belong in writing before you sign anything.
Before you sign
Two things decide the final number at every resort and neither is in the package price. A package covers setup, ceremony structure, dinner and bar, but never the photographer, videographer, DJ, dhol player, dance floor or uplighting, and bringing your own triggers an outside vendor fee on top of what the vendor charges you. The second is what happens to guests who are not staying on site. For this property the four figures to request in writing are the entertainment curfew per venue, the outside vendor fee, the day pass rate and the legal ceremony fee. We ask all four as a matter of course, and our planning is free to couples because the resorts pay us. Send us your dates and guest count and we will get them in writing.
