Written by the WeddingPlan360 planning team. Every venue, capacity and package inclusion below comes from the resort’s own published material on our Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen resort page - verified September 2026. Where a number is not published, we say so rather than guess.

Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen is an adults-only beachfront resort whose wedding specialists are certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute, with two separate 300-guest venues - the Central Garden and the Main Ballroom - and a 200-guest gazebo. That combination is rare. It also comes with the single biggest decision you will make about this property, and no one else writing about it says it plainly: adults-only means no children at your wedding. For a lot of South Asian families that is a non-starter. For some couples it is exactly the point. Here is how to tell which one you are.

The adults-only question, answered honestly

The resort’s own listing is unambiguous: Family Friendly - No. That is not a soft preference or a “quiet zone.” Children cannot stay at the property, which means they cannot attend your events.

Think about what that removes from a traditional multi-day celebration. No nieces and nephews in the baraat. No children in the mandap photographs. No cousins’ families flying in as a unit - the ones with young kids simply cannot come, and you will be the one telling them. In our experience the awkward conversations do not land at booking; they land four months out, when the aunt with a six-year-old finds out.

Now the other side, honestly. Couples who choose adults-only usually want a specific thing: a sangeet that runs late without anyone leaving at nine, a reception that is a genuine party, a guest list that stays at the size they intended rather than doubling with families, and quiet suites where the wedding party actually sleeps. If your guest list is already adult-heavy - a lot of friends, a lot of colleagues, cousins without young children - adults-only turns into an advantage rather than a restriction. If your guest list is built around extended family, the honest answer is to look at AVA Resort Cancun or Moon Palace instead, and we will say so on the call rather than after your deposit.

Does Hyatt Vivid actually do South Asian weddings?

Yes, and specifically rather than vaguely. The resort publishes a South Asian Wedding Package alongside its standard tiers, and states that its wedding specialists are all certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute and plan multi-event weddings. That certification is the resort telling you its coordinators have been trained on mehndi, sangeet, baraat and a mandap ceremony as a connected sequence - not learning the running order on your wedding weekend.

Every package tier includes a dedicated onsite wedding coordinator. Specialist South Asian catering, décor, mandap build, dhol and mehndi artists are sourced through our vendor network at no charge to you under our no-planning-fee model.

Which venues fit which guest count?

The resort publishes maximum capacities per venue by event type. The property caps at 300 guests overall:

Venue Wedding Reception Cocktail
Central Garden 300 300 300
Main Ballroom 300 300 300
Gazebo 200 100 100
Infinity Deck 100 - 70
Dolma Garden 70 - 60
Kalamata Restaurant - 30 30
Uxmal Garden 30 30 30

How a planner reads that: this property is unusually well set up for a 150 to 300 guest multi-day celebration, because it has two full-capacity venues rather than one. Baraat and ceremony in the Central Garden, reception in the Main Ballroom - or the reverse, with the garden lit for the evening. That matters more than it sounds: a single-ballroom resort forces you to flip the same room between events, which eats hours and limits your décor. Here you can build the mandap in one space while the other is being set.

Below that, Dolma Garden (70) and the Infinity Deck (100) handle mehndi and sangeet, and Uxmal Garden or Kalamata (30 each) suit a welcome dinner or a pithi. A 30-guest elopement-scale wedding works here too, and works well.

What do the wedding packages include?

The resort publishes its package tiers by guest count. It does not publish prices for them, so we are not going to invent any - ask us and we will get live numbers for your dates, which move seasonally anyway. What is published, as written:

  • Just for the Two of You - the couple alone: intimate oceanfront ceremony setup, fresh flower bouquet and boutonniere, signature cake for two, sparkling wine toast, romantic turndown on the wedding night, dedicated onsite coordinator.
  • Intimate Elegance - up to 10 guests: private oceanfront ceremony with décor, floral arrangements and ceremony sound system, private dinner reception or cocktail setup, a 25-minute couple’s massage, sparkling wine toast and cake.
  • Lavish & Opulent - up to 20 guests: oceanfront ceremony and cocktail hour, three-course private dinner reception, premium open bar during the reception, couple’s spa massage, special suite décor, cake and champagne toast.
  • Summer Love - up to 28 guests: oceanfront ceremony setup with décor and florals, bouquet and boutonniere, symbolic ceremony with an officiant, sparkling wine toast, cake for all guests, private dinner reception with a curated menu, romantic suite amenities, late checkout for the newlyweds.
  • Luxury Package - up to 38 guests: complimentary suite upgrade for the couple, customised floral and ceremony décor, cocktail hour with appetisers and drinks, a three-hour private dinner reception with a gourmet menu, professional sound system and ambient lighting, coordination end to end.

Two things a planner notices. First, the tiers stop at 38 guests - everything above that is quoted against your plan, which is where nearly every South Asian celebration lands. Second, the venue capacities go to 300 while the packages go to 38, so the published packages are a floor, not a forecast. Anyone quoting you a “package price” for a 150-guest South Asian wedding here is quoting something custom. Judge it against the real ladders and cost drivers in our true-cost guide to South Asian destination weddings, and remember Mexico adds roughly 31% combined tax and service on event spend.

Is the Big Day Preview worth taking?

Yes. The resort offers a two-night preview stay for the couple before you commit to a date: you walk the venue options and included amenities, sit down with the onsite wedding coordinator, and the $500 cost is fully credited toward your wedding when you book. For a property where the adults-only rule is the whole decision, seeing it in person before you send a single save-the-date is worth two nights of your time.

The resort itself

Beachfront in Playa del Carmen, a two-minute walk from the Riviera Art Gallery, 2.4 km from Playacar Beach and 10 km from Xplor Adventure Park - so guests who want Tulum, cenotes and Fifth Avenue have them on the doorstep, which is a genuine advantage over the more isolated Riviera Maya resorts when your guests are staying a week. Suites have sitting areas, jacuzzis and balconies with hammocks; upgrades add swim-up entrances, private pools and sea views. More than a dozen bars and restaurants, plus a Mayan-inspired spa.

Playa del Carmen rather than Cancun also means a longer transfer from CUN - budget for it in your guest communications, and let us handle the group transport as part of the room block. The block is where the economics actually move: contracted group rates plus event-space concessions that scale with room nights, which is why a larger guest list usually lowers your cost per guest rather than raising it.

Frequently asked questions

Can children attend a wedding at Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen?

No. The resort is adults-only and its listing states Family Friendly: No, so children cannot stay at the property or attend your events. If your guest list includes families with young children, choose a family-friendly resort instead - we will tell you honestly which ones fit.

Does Hyatt Vivid have South Asian wedding specialists?

Yes. The resort publishes a South Asian Wedding Package and states that its wedding specialists are all certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute and plan multi-event weddings. A dedicated onsite coordinator is included in every package tier.

How many guests can Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen hold?

Up to 300. Both the Central Garden and the Main Ballroom hold 300 for a wedding, reception or cocktail hour; the Gazebo holds 200 for a ceremony; the Infinity Deck 100 and Dolma Garden 70 for smaller events.

How much does a South Asian wedding at Hyatt Vivid cost?

The resort does not publish package prices, and we will not estimate them. The published tiers run from the couple alone up to 38 guests; anything larger is custom-quoted. Add roughly 31% Mexican tax and service to event spend, and price mandap, décor, dhol and specialist catering separately. Ask us for live numbers for your dates.

Playa del Carmen or Cancun for a South Asian wedding?

Playa del Carmen puts Fifth Avenue, cenotes and Tulum within easy reach for guests staying a week, at the cost of a longer airport transfer. Cancun is closer to the airport with a deeper resident South Asian vendor scene. We plan both - book a free call and we will run your real guest list against each.

A note on the prices shown here

Every rate on this page is published by the resort and is included to give you a rough idea of pricing only. Resort pricing changes without notice and varies by date, season, day of the week, guest count, room availability and exchange rate. Figures may also be quoted before tax and service charge.

Nothing on this page is a quote, an offer or a guarantee of availability. For a current, all-in figure for your date and guest count, book a free planning consultation and we will confirm the real numbers with the resort.
